There are three common areas affected: the heel, the top of the shin bone or the bottom of the knee cap. There’s a stack of emerging evidence advocating strength and power training for rehab, injury prevention and performance in distance runners.       <image:title>Tendinopathy - Tendinopathy is the broad term for a condition affecting the tendons of the body. You may have heard of tennis elbow, golfer’s elbow, jumper’s knee or Achilles tendinopathy, but nearly any tendon in the body can be affected. Tendinopathies can occur from an episode of high load, or repeated sub-maximal loads that the body is unable to recover from. These can be very painful conditions, so it’s tempting to completely rest them. But - resting doesn’t change the ability of that tendon to do its job. We will work with you to identify the activities that may be aggravating the tendon and ways to modify them, identify any contributing factors, and slowly build the tendon back up to ensure you can get back to doing what you want to do.</image:title>

      <image:caption>We work with some of Perth’s top orthopaedic surgeons to provide not only pre- and post-operative rehabilitation, but high-quality, evidence-based conservative management for both traumatic and atraumatic joint-related issues. We’re extremely selective about which surgeons we work with and they need to be those who “get it” in terms of the activities you want to get back to. A special area of interest is conservative management of knee osteoarthritis. Physiotherapist-led exercise rehabilitation, education and collaborative goal-setting are the mainstays of treatment in this area. One of my biggest wins was a client having the confidence to book a (pre-COVID) cruise of a lifetime after putting it off due to difficulty with balance and knee pain on stairs.
